Telling of two battles in the eternal conflict for human souls between good and evil, "Clovenweave: A Journey into Madness" (published by iUniverse) is a novel in two parts - with two separate protagonists - that explores how their fates hanging on a single commandment.

"Good and Evil exist in the minds of men as a result of having been given the bounty of free will by our Creator," author Joseph Francis Katich says, explaining how the topics of good and evil have been of personal interest to him and his studies. He adds that he hopes readers take away "a few enjoyable evenings read and a piece of gristle for friends to chew on."

An excerpt from "Clovenweave":
He then stood in the middle his little room and surveyed the destruction with stoic resignation. He picked up an unbroken votive candle from the debris of his small household shrine and lit it from the first candle. The beautiful painting on tin retablo of the Blessed Virgin of Guadeloupe was smeared with dung. The crucifix stuck upside down in a pile of filth. "Blessed Father help us" he pleaded out loud raising his gnarled calloused hands toward the heavens.
