For writers and literary enthusiasts alike, the upcoming Readers & Writers Retreat at Castle Hill will take place on Monday May 20th until Thursday May 23rd in Charlottesville, Virginia. This three and a half day luxury retreat is an exclusive opportunity to spend a weekend with ten significant authors and learn the story and craft of their work. Headlining the event are renowned authors John Grisham and Sissy Spacek, along with a slew of published writers including Virginia favorite Jan Karon and Emmy award-winning writer, director and producer Hugh Wilson. The retreat itself will take place at the grand estate of Castle Hill, one of the most historically significant homes in Virginia. Over the course of the retreat, guests will participate in wine tastings, picnics, and elegant meals out in Charlottesville alongside numerous other relaxing activities.

The estate of Castle Hill itself is momentous and the historic grounds have played host to famous Presidents such as George Washington, James Madison, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson and most notably, Thomas Jefferson. Guests can additionally look forward to a private tour of Monticello, Jefferson's famous Virginia home and garden that attracts thousands of visitors per week. While Castle Hill itself is located just a few miles from downtown Charlottesville, the surrounding areas provide plenty of excursion opportunities and leisurely activities for attendees. The Castle Hill team has organized plenty of thrilling activities including poolside buffets, a scheduled tour of Keswick Vineyards, farm-to-table meals at popular Charlottesville restaurants and even a night at the theatre.

The majority of the week will be spent in both small and intimate groups with the authors in addition to author presentations and meals. Accommodation wise, Castle Hill is partnering with the local Clifton Inn to give a discounted nightly rate for guests of the retreat. Extensive information, details and a letter from the Castle Hill hosts, esteemed Stewart Humiston and Hugh Wilson, are available at Castle Hill's personal website (http://www.castlehillretreats.com/) where those interested can find registration information and rates.
