Having a strong desire to thank the people of Greenport, N.Y., a former CIA employee releases his third book, "Raised by a Village: Growing Up in Greenport" (published by Archway Publishing).

John F. Sullivan says his book is a thank-you note and tribute to the people of Greenport, a place that welcomed him, his mother and his brother after his father's death in 1940.

"When given the opportunity, most people will do the right thing," Sullivan says. "When the people of Greenport saw the needs of me and my family, they responded with emotional and material support in an extraordinary manner."

He adds that there are many "ordinary" people who can identify with his story, which he says accentuates the positive, while acknowledging the negative. "Some readers might find that refreshing."

The author has written two other books, "Of Spies and Lies: a CIA Lie Detector Remembers Vietnam" and "Gatekeeper: Memoirs of a CIA Polygraph Examiner."
