Inspired by stories of whistleblowers that have had to put their life on the line or give up their life in order to expose a secret or truth, author Joel Mark Harris decided to honor them with his new thriller "Shame the Devil" (published by iUniverse), a tale about a whistleblower and the complications that arise in his life for blowing the whistle.

John Webster, a journalist, receives a call one day about a cover-up involving a large oil company. When John decides to work with the whistleblower and uncover the mysteries surrounding the company, he finds himself in mortal danger as the company's executives will stop at nothing to silence John and his contact once and for all.

"We need whistleblowers in today's society more than ever," says Harris. "When they go out on a limb to help society, society, in turn, needs to give them their support. Democracy is being strained by those in power, and these ordinary individuals are insuring our rights aren't being violated."
