In line with the latest release of Microsoft's Internet Explorer 10, as recently reported by Yahoo News, author Joachim Kempin's RESOLVE AND FORTITUDE takes readers through a comprehensive tour into the Microsoft organization. Based on Kempin's unique and stellar career, this book challenges Microsoft's current leadership by providing bold structural suggestions and insightful predictions for a successful come-back of the behemoth.

A remarkable document traces Kempin's fifteen years at the helm of Microsoft's OEM division where he, according to press reports, "wielded the pricing sword" for products sold to worldwide PC manufacturers. Known for driving hard bargains, and working directly with Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, Kempin left his mark by helping to elevate Microsoft Windows to pinnacles of unprecedented success. This long-time member of the Microsoft power nexus is the perfect insider to chronicle the wars of intellect and ego he witnessed daily, both within the company and in the distant reaches of the global marketplace. Throughout the book the battles with IBM, Apple and the software pirates take center stage as he successfully leads his legions through political upheaval and the minefields of a brutally competitive marketplace.

Throughout the book, this nonconformist strategist, openly critical of his former superiors, helped reign in IBM, win the browser wars of the late '90s and was a key witness during Microsoft's industry-shattering antitrust trial. He retired in 2002 after declining interviews throughout his career. Now he breaks his silence, illuminating Microsoft's marketing practices, carefully crafted technical prowess, the tricks of the Microsoft trade and the heart-pounding courtroom drama the company endured.

The promise of Windows 8 and its implications for the industry as a whole prompted him to write this book. Microsoft's road to success, as he experienced it, was not walk in the park. Passionate work ethics combined with resolve and fortitude shaped it. Something Microsoft's leadership needs to revive and amplify with l'audace to stage a successful comeback, regain lost ground, and ultimately engage the Facebook generation.

An exhilarating read for all business executives, marketing and sales managers, information technology professionals, the business community at large and students and educators throughout academia. Written by a master negotiator with a proven management record, Resolve and Fortitude unveils a wealth of practical business wisdom and a cornucopia of novel leadership principles, which can be broadly applied to a variety of industries.
