Jean Ellis Hudson, author of the critically acclaimed novel, "A Journey to Faith," returns to the world of Christian fiction with "A Gentle Soul" (published by Trafford Publishing). This new novel tells a story of family, survival and faith set in a time of war and widespread terror.

"A Gentle Soul" is centered on the experiences of Jeff, a young man who finds himself thrust at the center of a life-changing war. He is sent to fight in the muck and mire of the trenches of France, experiencing extreme brutality and bloodshed. In the face of overwhelming odds, Jeff learns to show gentleness and kindness to his fellow soldiers, virtues which he learned from his Christian parents. Will Jeff survive the war? More importantly, will his faith remain intact in the midst of violence and death?

An evocative and compelling narrator, Hudson has crafted, out of the desolation of war, a story of faith and the human spirit. "A Gentle Soul" shines with a message of hope.

An excerpt from the novel reads: "When night came, Jeff and the other men were called up. When the moment came, they all crawled "over the top" of the sandbags and out into "no man's land" on their elbows and knees, trying to stay as low as possible. Jeff came face to face with a German soldier and they both looked frightened, so they crawled on. Jeff couldn't help but wonder, 'What is the point in this?'"
