Jane S. Creason Releases 'All the Right Pieces'

Jane S. Creason's coming-of-age novel "All the Right Pieces" (published by Trafford Publishing) involves a culture clash. In this sequel to "The Heron Stayed," the main character, 16-year-old Chap, finds himself in a noisy, crowded metropolitan area-far from the Indiana woods he loved. The title symbolizes Chap's search for all the lost pieces of his old life that he hopes to find in this new one.

Chap enrolls in an experimental school, befriends the young wheelchair-bound boy next door, gains a brother-in-law and flies to California to spend time with another older sister he hardly knows. But along with the positive pieces in his new urban life come violence and its consequences.

Creason states, "The book will appeal to both young people and adults because Chap's journey takes the reader through experiences familiar to all-experiences related to family relationships, friendship, education, love and hate, happiness and sadness, life and death."

Chap's eyes flew open. He lay still, his body tense and his eyes blinking as they adjusted to the dark, which was lessened only by the narrow slits of harsh street lighting that peeked through the slated blinds. Something had awakened him.
Moments passed. All was quiet. As his eyelids started to droop, he heard a man shout, loud and angry. Then Lou Ella screamed "Don't" as an object crashed against the thin wall that separated the apartments.
