HarperCollins Publishers Announces Short Story Collection And Forthcoming YA Novel By Veronica Roth

NEW YORK, Oct. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ HarperCollins Publishers announced today the acquisition of two books by globally bestselling author Veronica Roth, author of the Divergent series and the Carve the Mark duology. Joanna Volpe sold World English rights on behalf of New Leaf Literary & Media to Katherine Tegen, Vice President and Publisher of her eponymous imprint at HarperCollins Children's Books.

In the highly anticipated short story collection, entitled THE END AND OTHER BEGINNINGS: Stories from the Future, Veronica Roth once again reaches into the unknown and draws forth something startlingly familiar and profoundly beautiful. The storiesset in futuristic landsbrim with strange, new technologies, yet the characters must still confront deeply human problems. Masterfully written in her characteristically honest and poignant prose, Roth weaves tales that begin with hope for a better end, a sentiment that surely resonates with readers of all ages. Included in this collection is a story entitled "Inertia," which was optioned by Fox 2000 in a pre-emptive deal. Temple Hill partners Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen (The Fault in Our Stars; The Maze Runner; Love, Simon) will produce the film with Pouya Shahbazian (Divergent; Love, Simon; American Honey). The screenplay was written by Jack Thorne (The Cursed Child; Wonder).

"I am thrilled to be publishing two new books by Veronica," said Katherine Tegen. "The short stories in THE END AND OTHER BEGINNINGS are absolutely breathtaking and beautifully inventive. And the stand-alone YA novel promises to be another epic adventure, perfect for Veronicas Divergent and Carve the Mark fans."

THE END AND OTHER BEGINNINGS: Stories from the Future will publish in Fall 2019. Roth's adult science-fiction novel will be published by John Joseph Adams Books, an imprint of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, in Spring 2020. Roth's full-length YA novel is scheduled to publish in 2021.
