Boston Globe Media Partners and Grand Central Publishing (GCP), a division of Hachette Book Group, announced the acquisition of You Should Have Called Me an Uber: Lessons from the Front Lines of the Love Letters Advice Column by Boston Globe columnist Meredith Goldstein. Suzanne O'Neill, VP, Executive Editor at GCP acquired the North American rights at auction from Lane Zachary and Todd Shuster of the Zachary Shuster Harmsworth Literary Agency, who represented The Boston Globe and Meredith Goldstein in the transaction.

As inspiring, dramatic and heartwarming as Cheryl Strayed's Tiny Beautiful Things, You Should Have Called Me an Uber offers Meredith Goldstein's funny, disarmingly honest account of her own crazy love life even as she dishes out savvy advice on how to cope with dating fatigue and infidelity, work romances and tired marriages, true love and true loss. The book is tentatively scheduled for publication in early 2018 in hardcover, e-book, and audio editions.

"I am so excited to tell people about all the sex I wasn't having while writing this column," Goldstein said. "I'm also excited to share all that I've learned about relationships through Love Letters."

O'Neill said of the acquisition, "I was completely charmed by Meredith's proposal, which was wise, laugh-out-loud funny, and moving. I'm proud to publish the book that will introduce the amazing Love Letters community to the rest of the country. Their mix of tough love, quick wit, and unflinching support for one another is a shining example of how the internet can be used for love, empathy, and connection."

Goldstein has written the widely popular Love Letters blog for seven years. She also covers entertainment for The Boston Globe, and has worked as a reporter at the media company since 2002. Love Letters appears online (http://loveletters.boston.com/ ) Monday through Friday, and in print in The Boston Globe three days a week.

Goldstein is also the author of the 2012 novel, The Singles, which is loosely based on her many years attending weddings as a guest without a plus-one.

"Meredith created a unique 21st century advice column that has grown into a vast and vibrant online community," said Janice Page, The Boston Globe's Deputy Managing Editor for Features and Editor for Book Development. "This book will offer fans a rare window into her personal life, and will introduce her extraordinary voice to a whole new audience."

This book deal with GCP builds on The Boston Globe's rich tradition of working with leading publishers to produce and market bestselling nonfiction books written by Globe journalists. Past titles include Whitey Bulger: America's Most Wanted Gangster and the Manhunt That Brought Him to Justice (WW Norton & Company) and Last Lion: The Fall and Rise of Ted Kennedy (Simon & Schuster).

"Meredith is one of the great advice columnists in the country. Her frank and personal voice, along with her modern life perspective, resonates with so many, that a loyal, opinionated, and helpful community has developed nationally around her column," said Linda Pizzuti Henry, Boston Globe Managing Director. "I'm thrilled for a book that combines her unique perspective on relationships with her own personal experience and how she changed with the community that she created. We are excited to work with Grand Central and can't wait to see You Should Have Called Me an Uber in print."
