GONE GIRL Author, Gillian Flynn, Excited About Progress of New Film Starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike

Gone Girl is an upcoming American mystery-thriller film based on the 2012 novel of same name written by Gillian Flynn, who also wrote the screenplay for the film. It is directed by David Fincher, and stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, and Carrie Coon. The film is scheduled for release on October 3, 2014.

Flynn has stated that the film will deviate from the novel, as its story will be structured differently. She is thrilled by the progress and reports to the Kansas City Star: "It was thrilling to see it all come together. As someone who covered movies for many years, I know that most of the time it doesn't turn out so well for the original author. What was different this time around was that I had a great director who really liked the book and didn't want to turn it into something other than what it already was. David Fincher liked the same things in the book that I liked. He wanted a faithful screen adaptation, not a whole new thing."
