In a new collaboration between father-daughter duo Emily Jane and Jeffrey Eugene Elliot, the struggles and hardships of the early American pioneers are captured in the mosaic form of poetry and rendered completely in "In Search of the Lost Volume 2: Look Into the Light!" (published by AuthorHouse).

"Our mortality has some constants with our ancestors, that is, humanity still seeks to understand the purpose and meaning of life within the greater context of everyday living," says Elliot.

The poems in the book tell the stories of immigrants from the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and Ireland, who are searching for spiritual and religious meaning as they cross the Great Plains. "Our poetry is based upon highly personal impressions and experiences, but can be shared because our common humanity induces a shared experience and meaning belonging to the human family," explains Elliot.

Of their goals, Elliot says, "Emily and I would hope to have readers pause just a few moments and think of their departed love ones, to glean any lessons their ancestors may have taught them and to reflect on their personal stewardship for future generations within the overall framework of poetry."
