LOS ANGELES - Author Edward W. Pluemer worked for the US Postal Service and has played guitar for the last 60 years. His love for music and his collective experience playing in several bar bands prompted him to write this humorous fictional account about the lead guitarist for a rock band named "Shout Out" (published by Xlibris).

This novel tells the story of Bob Palmer, a 27-year-old letter carrier who is disenchanted with his future and pins his hopes for happiness and success on his weekend band. During his journey, readers will be introduced to a host of colorful fellow employees, share the band's highs and lows as they climb the ladder of success and witness his real-life challenges with family, friends and love.

"The appeal of the book is meant to be twofold," Pluemer says. "My intention was to first create relationships and personalities that the readers could identify with, then make the interactions between the characters humorous and interesting to follow. The spirit of the book is positive and the storyline contains some truly, feel-good moments."

Pluemer hopes "Shout Out" will remind readers that there are enjoyable books and storylines that do not require weapons, special effects or comic book superheroes to entertain them. For him, the most inspirational stories are still found in everyday human experiences.
