Dr. Henry Maurice Goldman grew up in a blue-collar section of Boston, and he rose to the rank of Captain in the United States Army and benefitted from an Ivy League education to become a prominent dental educator. The school he founded carries his name and was dedicated to his memory: The Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine at Boston University.

In the new biography "Henry Maurice Goldman: Dental Educator and Pioneer" (published by Archway Publishing), author Robert Allyn Goldman, who was one of Henry Maurice Goldman's many students, commemorates Henry Maurice Goldman's contributions to the development of modern dentistry.

The author says his book is a historical record which can be enjoyed by dentists, history buffs and anyone who has ever visited a dentist. It's an easy to understand narrative of Henry Maurice Goldman's personal and professional life.

"This book will appeal to readers on so many levels," Goldman says. "First and foremost, it is a rags-to-riches story about Henry's lifetime pursuit to enhance the quality of dental healthcare practice. It shows how this problem became Henry's lifetime pursuit - to not only upgrade the quality of dental education, but also to vastly improve the quality of dental healthcare practice and delivery."

The author hopes readers enjoy learning the origins of modern dentistry. Readers should come away with an appreciation for all of Henry Maurice Goldman's contributions as well as the other individuals described in detail who were tirelessly involved with Henry's work. This biography aims to leave readers as well with a sense of the extent of Henry's commitment to his students and his profession.
