HALIFAX, Nova Scotia

Author and seasoned architect Don Lohnes hopes to help readers build a comfortable home that meets their needs for space and location without a potential for future problems with his new book, "So You Want to Build a House" (published by AuthorHouse).

"My book does not describe how to actually build your house," Lohnes says, "but it takes you through the processes that will ease your efforts in reaching a successful conclusion."

Throughout the book, Lohnes shares his experiences from 40 years spent as an architect and as the general contractor for three of his own homes for the readers' gain. It describes Lohnes' personal experiences in a light manner presenting actual resolutions to common situations.

Not a technical manual, "So You Want to Build a House" is a guide of what to consider prior to making the first steps towards building a home.

"So You Want to Build a House" describes what to avoid when purchasing a site, and what to consider in regards to costs of location. In addition, it takes readers through what to consider when hiring an architect or home designer and how to prepare for that process. It also provides a cost estimating form and a sample schedule of the typical home construction process.

"Building a home is not a difficult process," Lohnes says, "provided you follow the steps described in my book in a logical manner."
