Theater lovers, teachers, students, actors, directors, and everyone interested in exploring modern culture as seen through the eyes of contemporary playwrights, will find a new home on the Internet when INDIE THEATER NOW (www.indietheaternow.com) launches August 7. This dynamic, constantly expanding online library of work by America's finest indie playwrights is the digital theater book store for the 21st century.

INDIE THEATER NOW is the latest online technological advance introduced by The New York Theatre Experience, Inc. (NYTE) producers of the long running, popular website, nytheatre.com and is developed and curated by Martin Denton. Indie Theater Now enables online visitors to search plays by descriptive keywords (think Netflix); view playwright bios, media galleries, short excerpts, contact info, production info, and more. For only $1.29 (even less with one of NYTE's subscription plans), visitors will be able to buy a read-only digital copy of any play in the library.

Starting off with a bang, NYTE has partnered with the New York International Fringe Festival for the August 7 launch of Indie Theater Now. The initial INDIE THEATER NOW library will feature a retrospective of more than 100 of the best plays from FringeNYC over its 15-year history. After the launch, the focus going forward will be on publishing brand new plays. New scripts will be added weekly.

Among the initial titles will be award winning plays including The Event by FringeNYC co-founder John Clancy, Hail Satan by Mac Rogers, Remission by Kirk Wood Bromley, Thoroughly Stupid Things by Montserrat Mendez, Lights Rise on Grace by Chad Beckim, The Rise and Fall of Miles and Milo by Sara Farrington, The Deepest Play Ever by Geoffrey Decas O'Donnell, God's Waiting Room by Sam Younis, Expat/inferno by Alejandro Morales, Acts of Contrition by Timothy Nolan, The Savior of Fenway by Brendon Bates, and Last Call by Kelly McAllister.

NYTE, a nonprofit corporation, has always been an advocate for emerging playwrights, promoting their work to new audiences and finding new ways for them to become established and sought after in and outside New York. For 12 years NYTE has published the highly successful Plays and Playwrights anthologies. NYTE was honored with the 2008 Stewardship Award from the New York Innovative Theatre Foundation. Executive Director Martin Denton received an OTTY (Our Town Thanks You) Award from Manhattan Media for contributions to the community.

INDIE THEATER NOW promises to bring the best new American plays to the widest possible audience. It is a portal into a dynamic online library spanning genres and styles, featuring works by a talented array of authors. The goals are convenience and access; keeping our prices low and selections broad and diverse. Visit www.indietheaternow.com for a sneak preview.
