According to Pew Research Center, "just 19 percent of Americans say they can trust the federal government always or most of the time."

For David Hult, author of "My Struggle," these numbers highlight the need for widespread political reform to fully address the country's cynicism regarding American politics.

"The founding fathers did not envision that the public would vote for people with far less character than they imagined," Hult said. "With the current politicians in office, the Constitution does not work."

In his book, he touches on various controversial political and societal reform topics. According to Hult, America would benefit from abolishing the two-party system and state government as well as raising the minimum wage and offering free college education. He believes that America should adopt a parliamentary system of government that would help end political gridlock in Congress.

By sharing his modifications, Hult wants to present a new way to look at restructuring the government.

"My goal with these changes is to create a better America for all Americans," Hult said.
