Creative Loafing Extends Fiction Contest Deadline

By: Feb. 17, 2015

Creative Loafing has extended the deadline for the 2015 Fiction Contest. Local writers now have until Thurs., March 5th, to submit their stories. The winning stories will be featured in Creative Loafing's Fiction Issue, awarded up to $500, and honored at the Fiction Awards & Issue Release Party on Wed., March 18th, at CL Space (1911 N. 13th St., Ste. W200, in Tampa).

This year's CL Fiction Contest asks local writers to submit an original story of 3,000 words or less inspired by a work of art currently on display in a Tampa Bay area gallery, museum, park, plaza, or other public space. Submissions for the contest will be accepted until Thurs., March 5th, at cltampa.com/fictioncontest. A judges panel will select the top 10 stories, from which a Readers' Pick and Judges' Prize will be chosen. Readers will get a chance to vote online for their favorites in the top 10.

Winners will be acknowledged at the Fiction Contest Awards & Issue Release Party on Wed., March 18th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at CL Space. In addition to being published in Creative Loafing, the top two winners will read their stories, and all attendees will receive the Fiction Issue the night before it hits stands on Thurs., Mar. 19th.
