Candace Bushnell, Author of 'Sex and the City', to Debut New Book at Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 6/27

"Sex and the City" author Candace Bushnell, will debut her new novel Saturday, June 27 at Arlington Heights Memorial Library.

Tickets will go on sale at 1 p.m. Tuesday for $50, including a signed copy of the book, food, drinks and a Q-and-A session.

This is the first book launch party being thrown by Tuscan MarketBook Club, which regularly holds discussions with authors after a book has been published. "Killing Monica" will hit bookshelves the week of the event, said club founder Debbie Smart.

The book is about a famous author who is sick of writing her popular series, so she decides to kill off the main character.

A portion of the proceeds will go to the Friends of the Library organization.

Tickets can be bought at Tuscan Market, 141 W. Wing St., or by calling (847) 392-9700. Only 225 tickets are available.

Candace Bushnell is an American novelist and television producer. She wrote a column forThe New York Observer (1994-96) that was adapted into the bestselling Sex and the City anthology. The book was the basis for the HBO hit series Sex and the City (1998-2004) and two subsequent movies.

Bushnell followed the best-selling work with the international bestselling novels 4 Blondes (2001), Trading Up (2003),Lipstick Jungle (2005), One Fifth Avenue (2008), The Carrie Diaries (2010) and Summer and the City (2011). Two of her novels have been adapted for television: Lipstick Jungle (2008-09) on NBC, and The Carrie Diaries (since 2013) on The CW. One Fifth Avenue has been optioned by the Mark Gordon Company and ABC for yet another television show.
