Betty Ann Toenies became fascinated with the Armistice Day Blizzard after hearing stories of how it thwarted her parents' wedding plans. She started researching about the incident in depth and in her book "The Postponed Wedding" (published by Xlibris), she shares what she discovered.

John and Leona plan to be married on November 12, 1940. It had been a lovely fall and the preparations were made at the farm Leona grew up on three miles north of Spring Hill. However, the famous Armistice Day Blizzard changed everything. Their story takes readers back to the 1940s, relating the decade's weather forecasts, radio news and technology. The book also touches on the history of the land and the people who lived there.

An excerpt from the book reads:

"John drove a black 1937 Ford automobile, which he kept in tip-top shape and very clean. When they were ready to leave town, it had begun to rain, and they had driven a mile and a half when it suddenly became nasty. The rain changed to heavy, wet snow, and the wind picked up, bringing the visibility down to about twenty feet or less."

"The Postponed Wedding" offers a glimpse into the life and genealogy of one family and the historical events that affected their journey.
