The numbers are startling. According to the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc., over 17 million people, or one in every 12 adults, in the U.S. suffer from alcohol abuse or dependence. In light of this sobering statistic, the new book by Rick H., "Under Construction: 25 Life-Building Tools for Addicts in Recovery" (published by WestBow Press), provides essential help for those who are suffering from what has become one of the top healthcare problems for the country.

An active member of the 12 step community for over twenty years, Rick has been immersed in gaining and sharing the wisdom found in the recovery community. In "Under Construction," he shares his experience, detailing a wide variety of recovery tools in a practical, consolidated and clear-cut format.

"Under Construction" holistically addresses the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual characteristics of addiction and recovery. A comprehensive and thoughtfully organized "toolkit," the book can be used in multiple ways, including:

  • As a self-help aid to assist any individual in recovery
  • As an overview of addictive tendencies and related recovery tools
  • As a discussion guide for group settings, particularly treatment centers, retreats and recovery discussion meetings.

"The book is concise, practical, proven wisdom that will help every addict lead a better life," says Rick. "There is hope in recovery."
