Dean Kutzler, the author of the book, Brownstone, a new thriller scheduled for release on September 6th has announced that he is donating a portion of pre-order sales to the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society. His purpose is two-fold. He wishes to help aid the good work they do at their no kill shelter and encourage other facilities nationwide to adopt PAWS' policies.
Kutzler first decided on the campaign when his cats of twenty-five years (Ying & Yang, brothers) died back in September of 2013. He and his partner visited PAWS' shelter in Center City and happily found Xena, a tuxedo cat that was missing her front, left paw. Immediately upon seeing Xena, Kutzler knew that she needed extra attention and adopted her. Although it isn't a kill shelter, the rescue animals are only given so much time for adoption before PAWS staff must send them to neighboring facilities in the hopes of finding forever homes. At this time, there is no guarantee that they won't leave PAWS and be sent to kill shelters. When Kutzler and his partner found Xena, her time at PAWS was up. As such, PAWS' volunteers cried tears of joy when the pair took Xena home. About the AuthorVideos
