Anne Rice's tours are back in New Orleans.

It's been about 15 years since Anne Rice's Tour Company shut down. It's been about 5 years since Sue Quiroz (Suzie Q) offered Anne Rice's Vampires And Other Supernatural Beings Tour at the Paraplex Annex (no longer located in New Orleans).

Starting June 24, 2013, Anne Rice Literary Tours will be free in the French Quarter, Garden District and the American Sector (better known as the Central Business District).

The tours are the result of the popular New Orleans tour book, Anne Rice's Unauthorized French Quarter Tour. The book was first published as a digital book for Amazon's Kindle and Barnes and Noble Nook. Soon after the digital books were published, the author began getting email inquiries about the paperback version of Anne Rice's Unauthorized French Quarter Tour. This resulted in the paperback version of the book, which is currently available at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, BookDepository.com and local bookstores.

The author, B Loyd, never considered giving walking tours of her popular book until the requests began pouring in. She states, "I used to share this information freely. I never considered writing a book or personally giving walking tours. A destination management company approached me to head up a specialty tour for their Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival guests. I was not prepared to give walking tours at that time so I declined the offer. I promised I would have a tour in place for the next festival."

As the book, Anne Rice's Unauthorized French Quarter Tour, became more and more popular, many people have asked about walking tours. Ms. Loyd felt like this was the most natural compliment to the book and the perfect next step to share her knowledge with other Anne Rice fans. Several licensed New Orleans tours guides stepped up and volunteered to lead the tours.

The French Quarter tour will start in Jackson Square near the gates across from the 1850 House and end at St. Louis Cemetery #1. The American Sector (Central Business District) tour will start near the entrance of the Canal Street/ Algiers Ferry and end at Basin Street (near St. Louis Cemetery #1). The Garden District tour will start at The Rink Shopping Center at 2727 Prytania Street (at the corner of Washington Avenue).
