Author Aleisha Dinisi takes readers into a life of heartache, trauma and obstacles in her new book, "Bottleneck: Life Traffic book 1" (published by Lulu).

Though altered for dramatic effect, Dinisi has drawn from her life experiences in creating Cashmere Ballantine, a young woman who is desperate for, but has never experienced, love. She has arranged her life around keeping her siblings safe from an abusive father and a neglectful mother, and when she finally finds the love she has been craving all her life, she throws herself into it wholeheartedly.

But just like the unpredictable L.A. traffic, life sometimes doesn't flow freely. Cashmere never expected the near misses, accidents and heart stopping moments of love in which there was no way to move forward. And just when the traffic seems to have no end in sight, it culminates in the most devastating decision she must make - a bottleneck.

"In today's society, people mistake intimacy for love," Dinisi says. "The 'hook-up' culture is a generation lost; they love being in love, but never plan past the immediate six months of carnal chemical reactions. Cashmere is a lost soul, representative of a lost generation."

As Cashmere struggles to grow up in a world that is vastly more mature than her naïve experiences, she fails to realize that love is sometimes just a fantasy for romance novels.
