Urinetown is a Tony Award-winning musical set in a Gotham-like city suffering a decades-long water shortage, where the government has banned private toilets and a young protagonist sparks a rebellion fighting for the right to pee. The production is presented through the Blackfriars Theatre Summer Intensive, featuring a cast of young performers aged 16-24 pursuing careers in theatre arts. The cast includes Ian Royse as Bobby Strong, Emmeline Hutton as Hope Cladwell, Qasim Huzair as Caldwell B. Cladwell, Katiclaire Dobbins as Little Sally, and Lauren Akerley as Penelope Pennywise, among others. The production is directed by Nathaniel Niemi, with choreography by Lani Toyama Hoskins and musical direction by Amanda Meldrum-Stevenson.
