RLTP Stages Obie Award-Winning Play APPROPRIATE, Beginning Tonight
Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) will present the WNY-Premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' comedy-drama Appropriate, opening tonight, October 30th and running through Sunday November 22nd. Appropriate, winner of the 2014 Obie Award for Best New American Play is a "bilously funny" (Washington Post) and "exceptionally brilliant piece of writing" (Time Out Chicago), and has garnered high critical praise for the skillfully crafted "spectacle of flamboyant family dysfunction" (LA Times).
RLTP's production will star Lisa Ludwig, David Mitchell, Aaron Krygier, Lisa Vitrano, Kelsey Mogensen, Dan Urtz, Renee Landrigan, and Simon Mysilwy under the direction of Scott Behrend.
Appropriate Synopsis: Family reunions: a time to reconnect, to reminisce, and to reveal your family's dysfunction in all its hilarious, caustic, and often wildly inappropriate eccentricities-or so it goes for the estranged Lafayette clan. When the family patriarch dies, three siblings are forced into a contentious homecoming at the derelict Arkansas plantation they all fled years before, sullen families, outrageous personalities, and bitter resentments in tow. Veiled contempt becomes outright verbal fisticuffs as a shocking discovery pits brother against sister, nephew against aunt, and all against the ghosts of their shared past as they try to exorcise familial demons in this riotous, revealing portrait of the American family.
Regular performance times are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $35 general admission and $20 for students.
