Photo Flash: First Look at Annie Baker's JOHN at Road Less Traveled Productions

By:

Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) kicks off its 2017-2018 season with a Western New York-premiere of John, a comedy by Annie Baker. In 2016, John received nominations for five Lucille Lortel awards and six Drama Desk Awards. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

RLTP's production stars Darleen Pickering Hummert, Priscilla Young Anker, Sara Kow Falcone and Adam Yellen under the direction of David Oliver. The production team includes Dyan Burlingame (set design), John Rickus (light design), Maura Simmonds Price (costume/props) and Katie Menke (sound design).

At a mysterious Bed & Breakfast in Gettysburg, a young couple battle memories, mistrust, and an angry American Girl doll, all while under the watchful eye of Mertis, their quirky innkeeper; Genevieve, her blind and aging friend; and a houseful of toys, knickknacks, and Victorian kitsch. Unable to connect, Elias buries his head in ghost tours and civil war tours while Jenny finds unexpected comfort in the peculiar older women who have ghost stories of their own. Over the course of one unconventional weekend, Jenny and Elias will realize that the scariest stories are the ones that haunt us from our own past. With humor and insight, John reflects on what we know and what we think we know, on strained connection and pervasive loneliness, on what we carry with us and what we leave behind.

John opens Friday, September 8 and runs through Sunday, October 1 at the Road Less Traveled Theater at 500 Pearl Street. Tickets are $35 general admission plus $5 students (Thursday) $20 students (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Tickets can be ordered online at www.roadlesstraveledproductions.org, by calling the RLTP Box Office at (716) 629-3069, or by visiting the Box Office during the 30 minutes prior to any performance.
