New Adaptation of Classic Horror Tale FRANKENSTEIN to Play Road Less Traveled

By:

Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) will welcome the New Year with a world-premiere adaptation of the classic horror novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.

Frankenstein will make its debut January 20, adapted and directed by RLTP Ensemble member, David Oliver.

The production will star Jonas Barranca, Steve Copps, Gerry Maher, Candice Kogut, Joel Fesmire, John Profeta, Adam Yellen and Marisa Caruso.

Frankenstein will also feature an original score composed by Eric Burlingame as well as movement by Jon Lehrer. Production team includes Lucas Lloyd (Assistant Director), Katelyn Wickham (Stage Management), Dyan Burlingame (set), John Rickus (light), Katie Menke (sound), Emma Siddon (costume), and Eileen Behan-Hargrave (props).

When Victor Frankenstein takes the final steps towards giving life to an artificial "man", he sets in motion a terrible series of events that drive him to the ends of the Earth and, possibly, to his own destruction. David Oliver's new adaptation of this classic text, transported to the turn of the twentieth century, lays bare the central tenant of Shelley's work: that of a lost child, inherently innocent, yet violently desperate for the love of the father who has abandoned him in a pique of guilt and horror. Oliver's Frankenstein challenges us to consider the role of a manufactured man among a society of humans: how does the Creation's very existence threaten our ideas of sex, family, labor, technology, and the natural order of life on earth? This fresh take on Mary Shelley's classic tale of speculative fiction and horror is thrilling, provocative, and ultimately heartbreaking.

Frankenstein opens Friday, January 20 and runs through Sunday, February 12, at the Road Less Traveled Theater at 500 Pearl Street. Regular performance times are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30PM and Sunday at 2:00PM. Tickets are $35 general admission plus $5 students (Thursday) $20 students (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Mighty Taco Student Thursdays will take place four dates, dates: January 19, 26, February 2, 9. Tickets can be ordered online at www.roadlesstraveledproductions.org, by calling the RLTP Box Office at (716) 629-3069, or by visiting the Box Office during the 30 minutes prior to any performance.
