Triangle Arts Association to Premiere THE MAGIC AGENCY
Triangle Arts Association presents the premiere of THE MAGIC AGENCY Chapter 1: American Fly, a new performance work by Brooklyn-based Lilac Co. in which a group (cult?) performs psychic recoveries of fragmented people as party entertainment, helping people rescue their "lost selves."
Written and directed by playwright Sean Edward Lewis, and drawing from the hermetic expressionism of Agnes Martin, Gertrude Stein, Samuel Beckett, and others, the work "creates not merely physical spaces, but imaginary, emotional, and intellective states an audience passes through."(Thom Donovan, The Brooklyn Rail).
With Sean Lewis, Claire Campbell, Hillary Spector, Yasmin Santana. Assistant direction by Nate Speare, art direction Kenneth Curwood, sound design by Eric Hoegemeyer.
Lilac Co. has recently presented work at Joe's Pub, New York; The Roy Hart Institute, Malérargues, France; Pantheatre Myth and Theatre Festival, Paris; Collapsable Hole, New York; The Segal Center's PRELUDE Festival, New York; and The Public Theater's Under the Radar Festival, New York.
