MUSE Academy Brings New Independent School to Heart of Brooklyn's Cultural District
MUSE Academy, a new Pre-K through 12 independent school housed within the Brooklyn Music School, is currently accepting applications for grades pre-K 3 through 2nd grade for the fall of 2018. MUSE Academy fills a critical need for high quality, humanist education in the area, and extends the Brooklyn Music School's commitment to enabling children to experience the joy of music, and to reap the demonstrated intellectual benefits of culture and the performing arts.
"We are very excited to be introducing a new educational alternative to Brooklyn that addresses the whole child by combining rigorous academics, social learning, and world-class instruction in music and the performing arts," said Crocker Coulson, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Brooklyn Music School. "Inspired by the Ancient Greek Muses, our goal is to shape the young scholars, artists and citizens who will equipped to address the challenges of tomorrow."
Music, dance, and dramatic arts are central to the MUSE educational experience and profoundly contribute to a child's cognitive and social development. Our approach engages all the modes through which children learn and communicate - including verbal, analytical, kinesthetic, spatial, social, and emotional - using an inquiry-based learning model.
At MUSE Academy, every day is an adventure in learning in which students develop critical thinking capacities across diverse but intersecting areas, such as Spanish, Mandarin, science, and music. Creative expression instills a sense of wonder, and illuminates a rich path of world knowledge, social awareness, and self-discovery. Curriculum and instruction are crafted collaboratively among all staff, including the Head Teachers, Math and Science specialists, as well as the Directors of Music and Dance.
MUSE Academy is now accepting applications for Pre-K through Grade 2 for Fall 2018. The first step on the admissions journey is to attend an information session at MUSE Academy. These are held throughout the school year and into the summer in order to provide maximum flexibility to families researching educational options. Become one of the founding families by submitting your application, and get ready to begin the journey towards a MUSE Academy education for your child!
