The first New York City revival of Hazelwood Jr. High will premiere at Mayday Space Classrooms on November 11th & 18th at 8:00 p.m. and on November 12th, 13th, and 19th at 7:30 p.m. Hazelwood Jr. High was written by Rob Urbinati and saw its first New York production in 1998. This production is directed by Sean Pollock.

"Hazelwood is a very special play to me. It's not done a lot, and I'm really thrilled to be bringing it back to New York since its original production in 1998," Pollock says. "I don't want to give too much away, but I can tell you this story has never been staged quite in this way before. It's very exciting."

At first, Hazelwood Jr. High is like any other middle school - cliques and crushes, dances and detention. But when a new girl unwittingly steps into a "love triangle," a revenge plot is hatched, and events spin out of control, escalating into a shocking and unimaginable climax. The play is based on the true story of Shanda Sharer.

Hazelwood Jr. High is performed with permission from Samuel French, Inc.
