Ariel Stess' HEARTBREAK to Run 5/13-30 at Bushwick Starr
The Bushwick Starr and New Georges are thrilled to team up for the world premiere of HEARTBREAK, written and directed by Ariel Stess, a tale of love, loss, power, soccer, and growing up.
After thirty years of running a successful building company, Steven finds himself on the brink of retirement. Steven and his wife prepare for a gathering of his colleagues at his sprawling home in the Southwest. Steven's 27-year-old daughter appears for a quick visit. Steven's 24-year-old son calls to say hi. Someone gets promoted because they deserve it. Someone gets fired. A dog is saved. And Steven stands immobile in his house's massive hallways, wondering how to take a first step into his new life.
Performed by Noel Joseph Allain (the food was terrible), Seth Clayton (The Madrid), Paul Ketchum (The Harper's Play), Keilly McQuail (You Got Older), Mary Rasmussen (Uriel Acosta) and Richard Toth (Dreamless Land). Scenic design by Meredith Ries, costume design by Tristan Raines; lighting design by Eric Southern; sound design by Chris Giarmo.
*HEARTBREAK was originally developed in New Georges' Audrey Residency program.
