AMERICAN CANDY to Present GREASE 3 Next Month

By:

AMERICAN CANDY, best known for its wildly popular sketch comedy is taking on a new ambitious endeavor - full length musical comedy with GREASE 3: The Browning of Rydell. It's 1964 and the infamous Rydell High in Southern California has become racially integrated. Sweet, smart new girl and Brooklynite Lauren finds herself in the middle of the struggle to make the integration a success, while battling affairs of the heart with school heartthrob Will. Set against the backdrop of the civil rights movement and Malcolm X's assassination, this musical addresses serious themes with AMERICAN CANDY's outrageously hilarious signature brand of smart comedy. If you liked the movie Grease as a kid growing up but wondered why you didn't see any brown faces, you will not want to miss AMERICAN CANDY's GREASE 3.

AMERICAN CANDY has built a successful series by defying the stereotype that all comedy is the provenance of young white men. With a multi-cultural cast and team of both female and male writers, their shows have a wide appeal and repeatedly sell out. AMERICAN CANDY has been offering sketch comedy to extremely receptive audiences in Manhattan and Brooklyn since June of 2009. Past themes have included Politics As Usual, The History of Sex, The Super 70s, The Wild, Wild West and Back to School. AMERICAN CANDY has an energetic troupe of talented actors and is fast becoming a comedy institution in New York City. GREASE 3: The Browning of Rydell is the brainchild of Creative Director Hollie Harper who has wanted the group to delve into fan fiction for years. The script includes contributions from five staff writers and has very funny songs and musical sequences with fly choreography.

Performances are at the beautiful state of the art Actors Fund Arts Center, AMERICAN CANDY's home theatre. It is conveniently located at 160 Schermerhorn Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Tickets available at http://www.americancandygrease3.eventbrite.com.

With a $25 ticket price that includes a pre-show OPEN WINE BAR, AMERICAN CANDY is the best entertainment value in New York City! Most shows do sell out, so advanced reservations are strongly recommended.
