Spanish pianist Javier Perianes is a rising international star and adored in his homeland. Hear how his startling imagination and vibrant drive breathes life and passion into Brahms Piano Concerto No.1, a work of panoramic vision. Brahms composed the maestoso opening not long after his close friend Schumann's suicide attempt while the second movement is a tribute to Clara Schumann. Diaghilev commissioned Petrushka as symphonic music for a ballet about three dancing marionettes. Stravinsky's ravishing score in this milieu was considered to be a ground-breaking masterpiece.
