The Montreal Symphonic Orchestra, in its almost 80 years of existence, has gone on tour several times in its own country and worldwide, with remarkable passages through Asia, Europe, United States, and South America. The orchestra owes its success to the great conductors that have been part of its musical direction, such as Zubin Mehta, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos and Charles Dutoit, and is recognized for the elegant clarity of its interpretations and a repertoire that ranges from classical to contemporary music. Californian Kent Nagano has been the orchestra’s musical director since 2006.
