The Borodin is one of the most recognized quartets in the exclusive chamber music international scene. The ensemble was brought together in 1945 by four students of the Moscow Conservatory, including Mstislav Rostropovich. A unique authority in the interpretation of Beethoven and Shostakovich quartets, the group also champions chamber pieces produced by Tchaikovsky, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert and Brahms. They complement their repertoire with major pieces of the 20th Century musical literature, like creations by Barber, Schönberg and Stravinsky.
