Internationally acclaimed cellist Amit Peled and Festival Artistic Director and pianist Donald Enos present an evening of extraordinary beauty, emotional depth, and technical brilliance. The program opens with Beethoven’s spirited Seven Variations in E-flat, revealing the composer’s wit and inventiveness, before turning to a major contemporary work: Sharon Farber’s deeply expressive Cello Concerto No. 1, “Bestemming” (“Destiny”), a work of powerful lyricism and dramatic intensity. The evening concludes with Samuel Barber’s sweeping Sonata, Op. 6, an American masterpiece rich in passion, soaring melodies, and virtuosic fire.
