The Bay Players Present THE HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES, Now thru 4/25

By:

The Bay Players community theatre organization presents John Guare's farce comedy The House of Blue Leaves tonight, April 17, 18, 24 and 25, 8 pm, at First Parish Church, 842 Tremont Street (Rte. 3A), Duxbury. The production is directed by Jeff Gill.

Considered "A brilliant play...beautifully fashioned...Wacky and sometimes sad [with]... combined hilarity, poignancy, outrageous stage aside and tragedy." by The New York Daily News, The House of Blue Leaves is a perennial audience favorite. The work is critically acclaimed, having won the 1971 Critics Award for Best Play, and the Obie Award for Best American Play. In 1986, the show received a Tony Award nomination for Best Revival of a Play.

Set in Sunnyside, Queens in 1965, on the day Pope Paul VI visited New York City, The House of Blue Leaves is a black comedy featuring nuns, a political bombing, a GI headed for Vietnam, a zookeeper who dreams of making it big in Hollywood as a songwriter, and his wife Bananas, a schizophrenic destined for the institution that provides the play's title.

The cast of The House of Blue Leaves features Lisa Driscoll as "Bunny", Holly Cipriani as "Bananas", Joe LaGreca as "Billy", Samantha Mahanna as "Corinna", Liam Borgeson as "Ronny", Susan Fife as "Head Nun", Pamela Borgeson as "Second Nun", Amanda Hayter as "Little Nun", and Stephen Doherty as "MP".

Tickets are available for $20 for adults, $18 for students and seniors. Group tickets for parties of 10 or more are available for $15 each with advance reservation. For complete performance information, please visit www.bayplayers.org, or follow The Bay Players of Duxbury on Facebook.
