TCAN Presents Dar Williams 10/17
By: Gabrielle Sierra
Williams' recent albums are characterized by lush arrangements, guest artists, movement away from the tropes and techniques of folk song-writing, and the wry sensibility of a mature woman looking at her life, rather than a young woman trying to handle her upbringing.
Of her new album, Promised Land, Williams commented, "On this one, I was paring the stories down to their core. I wanted the songs to sound simple and down to what they were meant to be, which is hard to do. It takes a lot of knowledge to get to the point where you can say what you need to say - no more, no less."
