SEUSSICAL, MILLIE, et al. Set for Weston Friendly Society's 126th Season

By:

The Weston Friendly Society of the Performing Arts, Inc., the nation's second oldest community theater group, announces our 126th season. This season features two musicals never performed by the Society, and as in past years, we welcome your participation and support.

The generous support from our annual donors helps us survive and continue our mission as a non-profit organization promoting community service and fellowship. In addition to supporting the *Condakes and John Barclay Memorial Scholarship Funds, * *Weston Friendly Society* (Senior High School) Drama Awards*, and the *Waltham Public Library, *we are especially proud to contribute to the *Weston Pack/Troop 222* which has a unique goal to make scouting accessible to all boys from any town or community in the area irrespective of disability.

In November, we present *"Seussical" *a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza written by Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. The story centers around *Horton the Elephant *who finds himself faced with a double challenge. Not only must he protect his tiny friend *Jojo *from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg left to his care by the irresponsible *Mayzie La Bird.* Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community emerge triumphant in a story that will make you laugh and cry.

Next Spring, *Thoroughly Modern Millie*, a high-spirited 1920's musical romp, comes to the Weston stage. Taking place in New York City in 1922, *Thoroughly Modern Millie* tells the story of young *Millie Dillmount* who has just moved to the city in search of a new life. Based on the popular movie, the stage version of *Thoroughly Modern Millie* includes a full score of new songs and bright dance numbers that will have you tapping for hours on end.

Given the strain our economy continues to make on charitable giving, we hope you can generously support us so that we can continue providing quality entertainment to the community and needed assistance to local charities. We greatly appreciate your *tax-deductible contribution* and are pleased to offer complimentary tickets according to the following outline.

If you are unable to become a donor at this time, but would like to contribute in other ways, we encourage you to join our *volunteer corps.* Our productions require a tremendous amount of behind-the-scenes assistance with things like building and painting sets; making or tailoring costumes; finding props; publicity and selling tickets; and ushering. Please join us by sending us an e mail or voice mail with the requested contact information. Most of these tasks don't require a lot of time- just a strong desire to join the "Friendly Society" community with a guarantee to meet new & interesting people.

For individual performance ticket orders; information on audition information, please visit our website at *www.westonfriendly.org. *To order tickets once they become available or to leave a voice message for the "Society", please call *781-893-9883.*
