The Black Clown began previews on Friday, August 31 at the Loeb Drama Center, 64 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA. It opens tonight, September 5, and plays through September 23. Tickets on sale now: online at americanrepertorytheater.org, by phone at 617.547.8300, and in person at the Loeb Drama Center Ticket Services Offices (64 Brattle Street, Cambridge).

The Black Clown is a world premiere music theater experience that fuses vaudeville, gospel, opera, jazz, and spirituals to bring Langston Hughes' verse to life onstage and animate a Black man's resilience against a legacy of oppression. The production features Davóne Tines(Crossing and Run AMOC! Festival) in the title role, an ensemble of twelve, and a new score by Michael Schachter (Run AMOC! Festival), music direction by Jaret Landon, choreography by Chanel DaSilva, and direction by Zack Winokur (Run AMOC! Festival).
