Peregrine Theatre Ensemble to Present THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED, Casting Announced!

Casting has been announced and rehearsals are underway for Peregrine Theatre Ensemble's first production of their 2016 season: The Little Dog Laughed by Douglas Carter Beane. Opening June 20th - July 7th at the Provincetown Theater.

Yes, we love the cinema for its great auteurs, its glorious faces and its daring images. But in this tabloid age where big stars go on Oprah and jump around like heartsick schoolboys, what we really love is all that dish! The players here include a hard-driving Hollywood agent, her budding screen idol client, a sexy young drifter, and the drifter's naive, needy girlfriend. The Little Dog Laughed follows the adventures of Mitchell Green, a movie star who could hit big if it weren't for one teensy-weensy problem. His agent, Diane, can't seem to keep him in the closet. Trying to help him navigate Hollywood's choppy waters, the devilish Diane is doing all she can to keep Mitchell away from the cute rent boy who's caught his eye and the rent boy's girlfriend (wait, the rent boy has a girlfriend?). Will there be a happy ending as the final credits roll?

Executive Director Adam Berry writes, "We are absolutely thrilled to bring this exciting TONY Award winning comedy to Provincetown audiences. Douglas Carter Beane's writing is superb and this play is so well crafted. We are very lucky to have assembled such a talented team, actors and creative, to help tell a story that is still so current while also exploring the role and perception of women in the entertainment industry."

The cast of Peregrine Theatre Ensemble's (PTE) production of The Little Dog Laughed features Andrew Clemons (Dr. Bradman Blithe Spirit PTE; Our Town; The Weight of Water) as Hollywood heartthrob MITCHEL GREEN, Jessica Rhodes (Maureen RENT PTE; Adrianna The Comedy of Errors; Frieda Ruby's Story 13th Street Repertory Theatre NYC) as the scene stealing agent DIANE, Matthew Bittner (Roger RENT, Moritz Spring Awakening Suffolk University) as rent boy ALEX and Ruby Wolf (Mariam PARADE, or Approaching The End of a Summer PTE; Sally Bowles I Am A Camera Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater) as the unexpected girlfriend.

At the helm of this production is Director Ben Berry who also serves as Peregrine Theatre Ensemble's Artistic Director. Production team includes: Ellen Rousseau Scenic Designer; Travis Boatright Costume Designer; Bailey Costa Lighting Designer; Production Stage Manager Bella Tasha and Executive Director of PTE Adam Berry.

June 20th 2016 - There will be a post-show reception following our opening night performance for The Little Dog Laughed on June 20th starting at 9:30pm at the East End Market 212 Bradford Street, one block from the theater. Please join our cast, designers and fellow theater lovers as we celebrate the start of Peregrine Theatre Ensembles 2016 season. A suggested $20 donation includes Wine and Hors d'oeuvres.

June 21st 2016 - Peregrine Theatre and the Provincetown Theater celebrate local patrons with TOWNIE NIGHT! For this performance only all tickets are selling at $10 to locals from Eastham to Provincetown. These special rate tickets may be purchased starting June 18th in person at the box office only with a valid photo ID.
