New Repertory Theatre Presents New England Premiere CARDBOARD PIANO

New Repertory Theatre presents Cardboard Piano, the engaging socio-political drama by Hansol Jung. Hansol Jung's Cardboard Piano puts a human face on the beautiful, abiding portrait of love among a young female couple and the needless trauma, carnage, and spiritual crisis triggered by their encounter with violent, bigoted, reactive homophobia, says director Benny Sato Ambush. This play thrusts you in the middle of the inner and outer work required in the battle for reverence for all expressions of life and promises to tweak your conscience.

About Cardboard Piano Set in Northern Uganda at the turn of the millennium, Cardboard Piano reveals a love story set amidst an escalating civil war. A secret and improvised wedding between a local teenage girl and the daughter of American missionaries solidifies the commitment of these contemporary, star-crossed lovers, but leads to explosive consequences. This riveting new drama explores the roots of hate and the discovery of the potent power of forgiveness.
