In a recent Cross Cuts column for The New York Times, A.O Scott asked, "Is our art equal to the challenges of our times?" Pondering whether and how artists should address social issues through their work, a panel of cultural leaders joined one another to discuss their answers to the question. One particular artist shared that, "The best stories hold a clean mirror up. They take the chaos in our experiences, strain them through the point of view of a storyteller, and give context and insight to our lives." This idea about art really resonates with Israeli Stage and it is for that reason that we are presenting Games in the Back Yard - a play that empowers audiences to lean into difficult conversations, consider the opportunity to be vulnerable, and give a sense of trust within our community.

EDNA MAZYA born in Tel Aviv in 1949. A playwright and author, she studied theater and philosophy, and received her MA from Tel Aviv University where she later taught dramatic writing. In 1997, Mazya was awarded the Margalit Prize for her plays The Rebels and Family Story; The Rebels also received the Leah Goldberg Prize. A film for which she wrote the script received the Israel Academy`s Best TV Film Award (2004).

ISRAELI STAGE has been profiled in Ha'aretz/The International Herald Tribune, The Boston Globe (2012 & 2014), The Improper Bostonian, The Jewish Advocate, The Jewish Journal and Yediot for the unique work they do to build cultural bridges between the United States and Israel.
