Heart & Dagger Presents INTERVIEW 10/7-10/16

By:

Heart & Dagger Productions is proud to present its sophomore show, Interview by Jean-Claude van Itallie, directed by Joey C. Pelletier. The production runs October 7th - October 16th at the Plaza Theatre at the Boston Center for the Arts, 539 Tremont Street, Boston, MA, 02118.

ABOUT THE SHOWS:

Interview was originally produced as part of a trio of one acts by van Itallie called, American Hurrah. Based on three views of the USA, American Hurrah was considered a watershed dramatic event of the sixties.

Jean-Claude van Itallie was born in Brussels in 1936. He immigrated to the US in 1940 and grew up on Long Island. He graduated from Harvard in 1958. His other works include War, Ancient Boys, and Bag Lady. He has transformed the old farm in Western Massachusetts where he has lived for decades into Shanitgar Foundation for theatre/meditation/healing.

"The topic under examination is an employment interview--treated in a satirical, imaginatively stylized, mordantly comic way. Four masked interviewers interview a scrubwoman, a house painter, a banker and a lady's maid. While commonplace enough, suddenly the most innocent statements are foreboding. The questioners are trying to destroy the dignity of the four clients, and the latter fight to hold onto their self-respect. We, the audience, are thrust into awareness. The insulation burns off, and we have no choice to perceive."

Interview is directed by Joey C. Pelletier (Artistic Director of Heart & Dagger, Core Cast Member of Boston Actors Theater, Author of Where Moments Hung Before, Director of The Altruists by Nicky Silver, and Performer of the 2006 Elliot Norton Award winner P.S. Page Me Later with Alarm Clock Theatre Company). The Bad Boy of Boston Theatre, Pelletier has also co-choreographed and designed for dance parties (Mr. Goodbar with the FOXY! Boys and his own gay dance parody Into the Fens, both at Club Oberon.

Cast includes Mikey DiLoreto (Music From a Sparkling Planet, Happy Medium Theatre, Where Moments Hung Before, Boston Actors Theatre), Jordan L. Greeley (A Midsummer Night's Dream, Contemporary Theatre of Boston, The Buddy Holly Story, Turtle Lane Playhouse), Nick Miller (Refuge, Happy Medium Theatre, On This Moon, Flat Earth Theatre) Kiki Samko (Into the Fens, Heart & Dagger, Moliere Squared, Imaginary Beasts), Audrey Lynn Sylvia (Music From a Sparkling Planet, The Gingerbread Lady, Happy Medium Theatre), Amy Meyer (Moliere Squared, Imaginary Beasts) Erin Rae Zalaski (Into the Fens, Heart & Dagger Productions, Production Manager of Heart & Dagger) and also features, Tommy O'Malley, Corina Bucur, and Kevin Paquette.
