Harbor Stage Company's MISS JULIE Transfers to the Modern in Boston

By:

Following the completion of their milestone fifth season, Wellfleet's Harbor Stage Company will bring their much lauded production of August Strindberg's Miss Julie to Boston's Modern Theatre at Suffolk University.

The 9-performance Limited Engagement transfer will run Thursday, September 15th through Sunday, September 25th and marks the acclaimed ensemble's return to one of Boston's most beautiful and consistently innovative houses.

Adapted and directed by Artistic Director Robert Kropf, the Harbor's fiery new version of Strindberg's volatile classic was hailed by critics as a "brilliant" (Provincetown Magazine), "sizzling" (Cape Cod Times) production that "keeps Audience members on The Edge of their seats" (Provincetown Banner).

"For five seasons we've been honing our experiment at the Harbor, using an artist-run operation, repertory Acting Company, and affordable ticket pricing to build a fierce aesthetic and engaged audience," says Kropf. "We know not everyone can catch us on the Cape-- not least because our growing community makes it tough to get a ticket in our intimate space. Bringing Miss Julie to the Modern allows us to make a broader audience familiar with our company, its mission, and this beautiful play's powerful commentary on class struggle."

Unfolding over the course of a single summer night, Miss Julie explores how social status and sexual chemistry wreak havoc between the reckless daughter of a wealthy aristocrat and her father's enigmatic hired hand. The remount will feature original cast members and Harbor co- founders Stacy Fischer, Jonathan Fielding, and Brenda Withers. Rounding out the creative team are stage manager Katie Graves, lighting designer John Malinowski, set designer Sara C. Walsh, and technical director Evan Farley.

In keeping with the company's mission to produce great plays at fair prices for the right reason, single tickets to Miss Julie at the Modern are set at $23 and are available at www.harborstage.org or (508) 514-1763. Specially discounted $15 tickets will be offered to Boston area students with valid student ID.
