Guerilla Opera Selected For 'Boston's Best 2012'
By: Kelsey Denette
Guerilla Opera has been honored with recognition by The Improper Bostonian as Best Opera Company in its selection of "Boston's Best 2012."
Mike Williams and Rudolf Rojahn, Co-Artistic Directors of Guerilla Opera comment: "We are truly honored to be recognized by The Improper Bostonian in its "Boston's Best 2012" issue. To us this means that we are succeeding in our efforts towards artistic excellence. We are proud and humbled to be included, and look forward to bringing you many more dynamic performances."
Guerilla Opera was founded in May 2007 by a group of Boston-based professional artists lead by Co-Artistic Directors Rudolf Rojahn and Mike Williams. Performing in small, black box settings, and employing a trim retinue of some of Boston’s most virtuosic artists, Guerilla Opera was designed to deliver a ferocious and vibrant experience to the concert going public. By combining intimacy, culturally relevant subject matter, and low ticket prices, they will expand the definition of what opera is and who an opera-goer can be. Guerilla Opera exclusively performs newly commissioned works, developing a repertoire designed to maximize the company’s resources and, in the process, give voice to a new generation of operatic composers.
