GOREFEST XVI: A Space Slaughterssey Opens Today ImprovBoston continues its annual blood-soaked Halloween show with: Gorefest XVI: A Space Slaughtersssey (October 18-31st), a musical production where the audience is put directly in the middle of the action, and promises buckets of blood, guts, and laughter. Gorefest XVI: A Space Slaughtersssey takes our adult guests through a gruesome flight aboard the USS Expedition en route to New Earth. Audiences are sure to enjoy the original musical numbers, futuristic genre spoofs, bloody romance, and ultimately - the gorey elimination of every passenger on board.

An annual tradition with a cult following, ImprovBoston's GoreFest features a darkly comic musical penned entirely in-house by the GoreFest creative team with popular past titles including: GoreFest XV: Horror House, Gorefest XIV: The Campain, Cirque du Slaughté, 28 Days Latte, and Slaughterhouse on the Prairie. ImprovBoston's GoreFest is part camp, part Broadway, part haunted house and all hilarious.

Josh Garneau, producer of Gorefest XVI: A Space Slaughterssey says, "This show is one of a kind. It's a quirky tradition that we are thrilled to offer as we delight our audiences with the campy, gross, over-the-top humor they've come to expect." The talented cast of local performers are ready to take the stage and provide laughs until they meet their untimely, hilarious and often incredibly gory deaths.

The annual splatterfest involves countless hours of preparation. Writers draft a full-blown script, followed by edits, table reads, original music composition, blocking, rehearsing, and of course, special effects designs which get more creative every year. As in years past, this Halloween tradition requires:

  • 30 gallons of fake blood (with a record of 45 gallons of fake blood one year)

  • 10 gallons of additional fake bodily fluids and gore

  • Multiple boxes of cereal and other food items for fake vomit

  • Nearly 1000 ponchos, (for our nicely dressed patrons)

  • Two days of blood-proofing the theater (including a false floor, covered walls and shield for the tech booth.)

  • Two and a half days of post show cleaning

Gorefest XVI: A Space Slaughterssey - runs from October 18 - October 31, at ImprovBoston. Tickets are $25, $20 students at the door. Ponchos can be purchased online, or at the door, and are highly recommended. Recommended ages 16+. For a full list of shows and times, visit improvboston.com/gorefest.
