GAN-e-meed Theatre Project Presents GAN-e-meed Theatre Project, 12/12
By: Lauren Wolman Nov. 21, 2010
GAN-e-meed Theatre Project rounds out its 2010 season with the One Page Play Experiment, which encourages artists to fuse text, performance, and visual art to create a play on a single sheet of paper. Playwrights, artists, and collaborators are challenged to create works that can be both performed and viewed, and they are asked to explore how visual form and content complement one another. Fifteen finalists chosen from the pieces which have been submitted will be included in a staged reading on December 12 at 2 pm.
The finalists will also be displayed in the lobby of the Elizabeth Peabody House during GAN-e-meed's final production of the season, Silence by Moira Buffini. The audiences for Silence and the One Page Play Experiment staged reading will be invited to vote for their favorites. The five pieces with the most votes will be fully mounted during GAN-e-meed Theatre Project's 2011 season.ABOUT GAN-E-MEED THEATRE PROJECTA Good Start
The 2010 season, "Gender in Leadership," concludes with Silence by Moira Buffini. The inaugural season also included the acclaimed production of Hamlet, featuring an all-female cast, and BOOBFest: Bringing On-Stage Opportunities to Babes, a wildly successful variety show celebration. GAN-e-meed collaborated with other arts organizations for shorter engagements, producing Lucy Dreaming as part of FeverFest2010 in conjunction with the Small Theatre Alliance of Boston. Ties That Bind, three short plays written by, directed by, and focusing on women was presented by GAN-e-meed Theatre Project as part of Whistler in the Dark's Second Act Series at the Factory Theatre in February 2010. Looking Forward
The 2011 season, "Generational Collision," will be announced in the coming months. GAN-e-meed Theatre Project is currently reviewing proposals by female directors, playwrights, actors, designers, and stage managers. GAN-e-meed continues to host monthly Women in Theatre Networking Night, now on the second Monday of every month (for details, visit www.ganemeed.org).
