Several local vocalists will perform in a Classical Song and Aria Recital on Friday, November 12th at 7:30 at the Franklin School of the Performing Arts (FSPA), 38 Main Street, Franklin. The recital features works by Mozart, Faure and Godard, as well as traditional English and French folk songs. This special program is free and open to the public.
Participating students include Marielle DaCosta, Emily Dufour, Pat Dutton, Ali Funkhouser, Galen Hancock, Graham Hancock, Melissa Mandia, Avery McStay, Abigail Miklas and Neil Pfizenmaier of Franklin; Lexi Hassan and Alessa Vanaria of Hopkinton; Nicole Hojman, Sadie Palmer, Jay Vita and Samantha Vita of Mansfield; Kelsey Lynch, Amanda Trainor and Julie Wiles of Medway; Katie Ryan of Milville; Keyana Gregg, Emily Harrington and Sam Millette of Norfolk; and Evelyn Semenov of Southboro. All are students in FSPA's private voice prograM. Scott Nicholas will be the accompanist on piano.
FSPA students study classical music in the group voice program beginning at eight years of age. Following four levels of group study, students then graduate from the group curriculum to private lessons. Vocal Director at FSPA is Hallie Wetzell and teachers for the voice program are Mariko Matsumura, Edwin Milham, and Shauna Martin.
Following high school graduation, FSPA students have pursued voice and opera at New England Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, Oberlin College, Florida State University and Carnegie Mellon University.
