More than 40 local students from the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) will travel to Walt Disney World during April school vacation to perform for Disney audiences and participate in master classes led by professional Disney performers and directors.

Members of the FSPA Performing Troupes Broadway Ladies, Broadway Light, and Broadway Bound, as well as the dance company CenterStage, will perform on April 16, 18 and 19 at Downtown Disney's Waterside Stage. The student performers will participate in several workshops during their week in Florida, including Broadway Magic, where they will have the opportunity to perform material from a Broadway musical.

Students will also audition for the American Idol Experience at Disney's Hollywood Studios, where performers sing onstage for the judges and voting crowd, just as in the popular Fox TV show. The trip also affords time for leisure, with visits to the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios theme parks.

All FSPA performing troupe and dance company members are selected at the beginning of each academic year by audition. These troupes offer outstanding training and performing opportunities throughout the year for the most committed and talented students.

Performing at Walt Disney World are FSPA students Kasey Bressler, Katie Buccella, Emily Dufour, Emily Dutton, Giovanna Ferri, Ali Funkhouser, Galen Hancock, Graham Hancock, Tori Haynes, Melissa Mandia, Avery McStay, Lucas Melfi, Jennie Ostrow, Neil Pfizenmaier, Jillian Rea, Kerryn Reeve, Alicia Rivera, Samantha Sabanosh, Lindsey Sparages, Catherine Weiss, and Jill Whitney of Franklin; Michael Egan, Danielle Hall and Kaylyn Venuto of Hopkinton; Samantha Vita and Lindsey White of Mansfield; Jessica Eklund, Alexa Lowey, Emily Peduto and Julie Wiles of Medway; Erica McLaughlin and Alex Vancura of Medfield; Shannon Fox, Emily Harrington and Samantha Millette of Norfolk; Sasha Gardner of Sharon; Melanie Wagner of Southborough; Jef Mettler of Westborough; and Corrine Falotico, Callie Liljeberg, and McKenna May of Wrentham.

In preparation for the trip, FSPA will hold an evening of entertainment showcasing all of its special ensembles on Saturday, April 9th at 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas D. Mercer Auditorium at the Horace Mann Middle School. Ticket proceeds will help defray travel and workshop expenses for the Disney-bound performers.

Founded in 1985, FSPA brings all performing arts disciplines together under one roof, offering Music, Dance and Drama training to both students interested in serious study and those who enjoy the arts for recreation. Beginners of all ages are welcome in all programs.
